The low-lying belt where most camps, fishing villages, and the capital Hadibo are found. This is the practical heart of Socotra — where logistics happen, boats depart, and daily life plays out. Detwah Lagoon sits here, and the sea is generally calmer on the northwest coast.

Wind by month
Variable. Low wind windows at dawn (5 to 15 km/h); often picks up to 20 to 30 km/h by late morning. Khareef months bring sustained high wind on the south coast.
Sunrise / sunset horizons
Open sea horizons; cleanest sunrises on the east (Hoq, Arher) and cleanest sunsets on the west (Shuab, Qalansiyah).

Endemic species
Socotra cormorant, Egyptian vulture (coastal scavenging), endemic reptiles on the scrub margins, and bottle tree (Adenium) on rocky outcrops.
