Four landscapes,
one island.
Socotra is small enough to drive across in a day, but it holds completely distinct worlds. Pick a zone to start.

Zone
Coastal Dunes
White sand beaches and towering dunes running along the southeast and northwest coasts. Wind-exposed and dramatic, these landscapes shift constantly. Arher and Zahek are here — places where desert meets ocean in a way that exists almost nowhere else on Earth.

Zone
Coastal Plains
The low-lying belt where most camps, fishing villages, and the capital Hadibo are found. This is the practical heart of Socotra — where logistics happen, boats depart, and daily life plays out. Detwah Lagoon sits here, and the sea is generally calmer on the northwest coast.

Zone
Hagher Mountains
Socotra's northern highlands, draped in cloud forest and rising to 1,500m. The primary biodiversity hotspot — endemic species are densest here, the air is cool, and mist clings to the peaks at dawn. Most visitors see this in passing; those who linger find it the most rewarding landscape on the island.

Zone
Limestone Plateaus
The central elevated plains where Dragon Blood Trees are most concentrated. Formed over millennia from ancient seabed, the pale rock creates a stark alien backdrop for one of the world's most unusual tree canopies. 4x4 required for most routes; the reward is some of the island's most photogenic terrain.
