We use cookies (and similar local storage) only when strictly necessary, plus an optional analytics layer that you control. No advertising cookies, no third-party tracking pixels, no fingerprinting.

These keep the site working. We don't ask consent because the site can't function without them.

• sg-consent — your cookie preference (granted / denied). Stored in localStorage. Set when you click Accept or Decline. Lifetime: until you clear browser storage.
• Supabase auth tokens (only if you sign in as an admin or photographer). Stored in localStorage by the Supabase JS client. Lifetime: 1 hour rolling refresh.

Analytics (optional, opt-in)

Loaded only if you click "Accept analytics" on the banner.

• Google Analytics 4 — measures page visits, traffic sources, device types, and engagement. Cookies set: _ga, _ga_*. Lifetime: 13 months. IP addresses are anonymised by default. We have not enabled Google Signals or advertising features.

What we do not use

• No advertising or remarketing cookies (Meta Pixel, Google Ads, etc.)
• No social media tracking pixels
• No third-party analytics beyond GA4
• No fingerprinting or device-graph services

Browser-level controls

You can also block or delete cookies entirely via your browser settings. Chrome, Firefox, Safari, Brave, and Arc all have a "Privacy and Security" panel where you can clear site data for socotra.guide and prevent future storage. This won't break the public site — only your sign-in (if you have an account) will be lost.
